About IBX
IBX was created by the
Technology and Management Club at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2002. The goal of IBX is to provide a free and easy-to-use online marketplace for used textbooks. Since we want students to receive used textbooks for the lowest cost possible, IBX is strictly not for profit. This project was made possible by a generous donation from

Banner Ads and IBX
IBX uses banner ads from local businesses and other sources. Though IBX will obtain revenue from these ads, it is still not for profit. We use banner ads to keep the service free for students. All proceeds beyond our operating expenses are used to improve the service and availability of the website. IBX also displays ads to support other student organizations at the University of Illinois.
Illini Union Bookstore and IBX
IBX has now officially partnered with the
Illini Union Bookstore, the official bookstore of the University of Illinois. Like IBX, IUB's mission is to help students get the lowest price on textbooks. In order to give students the widest range of choices, IUB is now helping IBX by providing us with the official list of textbooks. We encourage you to use IUB if you want to buy a new textbook or can't find the used textbook you're looking for on IBX. Otherwise, use IBX to buy for less and sell for more than anywhere else.

- 25,995 trades have been done through IBX since December 2, 2002.
